Hello All:
I am in need of volunteer Bluebird nest box monitor for the 2006 season
(March through September).
The trail is located about 20 miles south of Denver, between Sedalia and
Castle Rock, on the Cherokee Ranch property. This is a property of 3000+
acres that currently supports five separate trails with a total of 200 nest
boxes. The terrain of the trails range from pasture land at @6000 ft.
elevation up to @6800+ ft., so it is essential that a monitor is physically
able to tolerate these ranges in altitude. We usually drive these trails
but they can also be walked, it is entirely up to the monitor which way
he/she prefers to do. The available trail currently hosts 30 boxes.
We require that a monitor that can visit boxes at least once a week, perhaps
twice after chicks have hatched (desirable but not mandatory). We also have
a reporting form and a reporting protocol system that is essential for
charting the progress/success of the project. We are looking for a
volunteer that will be willing and able to make a commitment to devote the
necessary time to both facets (monitoring and paperwork). We currently have
a (very small) list of backup monitors that are on call to cover trail
monitoring in case of vacations, emergencies, etc., so we would also like to
hear from volunteers that would be willing to be registered as backups.
If you are interested in talking to be about this opportunity, please
respond via e-mail (kfreema at attglobal.com, or call me at home
(303-779-0999).
