Subject: [Bluebird-babble] Volunteer(s) Needed for the Colorado Bluebird Project
Hello All Colorado Bluebirders,
The Colorado Bluebird Project needs a volunteer or two to manage our nestbox sales program. Responsibilities include answering inquiries (mostly via email, some by phone) about price & availability, fulfilling orders, and ensuring we have adequate inventory.
We'll have the workshop at the Audubon Center at Chatfield State Park up & running shortly and will be building the boxes there, with inventory storage space upstairs in the farmhouse. Boxes can be packed there, then mailed from any convenient post office. Many orders don't have to be packed and mailed, as they are picked up by the customer at the Audubon offices at the north end of Chatfield State Park. Picked-up orders can simply be transported the 4 miles from the Audubon Center to the offices, where Audubon staff will give them to the customers when they come to pick them up. Payments from customers will be mailed or brought directly to the Audubon offices by the customers. You will be reimbursed by Audubon for the mailing and supplies expenses you incur.
The biggest time sink is probably the task of packing & mailing the boxes, this should be done weekly whenever there are orders to be filled. We get most of our inquiries and orders in the Spring, this year we had a couple dozen inquiries and about a dozen orders. You'll probably have little or no activity 6 months of the year.
Tasks such as coordinating with the folks who'll be building boxes in the workshop to ensure we have enough (but not too much) inventory, coordinating with Audubon staff for orders to be picked up at the Audubon offices, and for accounting for the cash income, will also need to be done occasionally. Obtaining shipping materials, and answering emails, phone calls & mail inquiries round out the tasks that I can think of right now.
Please let me know if you're interested in doing this, or if you have any questions about it. Don't 'reply' to this message as that will send your message to everyone on the listserv. Please email me directly at CBPKevin at aol.com.
Thanks,
Kevin Corwin
