A great big 'Thank You' is in order to all the bluebird monitors across
Colorado who went the extra mile to report their end-of-season results to Cornell's
"The Birdhouse Network" database. Four seasons ago Colorado languished near
the bottom of the states in participation in this important Cornell project,
averaging around 100 nest attempts reported per year. This year we were near
the top of the list with well over 1,000 nest attempts reported! The extra
effort you made to get your data into Cornell's database, whether you entered it
yourself or sent the reporting sheets to us, is the sole reason for this
dramatic increase. So give yourselves a pat on the back! Incidentally, over 300
of the nest attempts that went into Cornell were from reports that folks sent
in to the Colorado Bluebird Project, we had one dedicated volunteer who posted
all those 300+ reports!

Anyone who wants to see the season's results on the Cornell website can do so
by going to their website www.birds.cornell.edu/birdhouse then clicking on
the 'News & Results' button, then clicking on the 'Query TBN Data' button.
There you can pull out the results for Colorado, the whole country, etc., in a
variety of formats. Also, if you're not familiar with the Cornell website, take
some time to browse around in it, it is chock-full of great information and
guidance!

As you may know, Cornell has been reengineering their database to make it
more comprehensive, allow more flexibility in data reporting, and most
importantly to provide a wider array of reports and inquiries. There shouldn't be any
significant changes in data that we record during our weekly observations at
the nestboxes. Hopefully Cornell will keep us apprised of the progress they're
making and of any changes we should expect to affect our data collection and
reporting process.

Thanks Again for all you do for our little blue friends!

If you have any questions or want to know more about Cornell reporting,
please send your email directly to the Project at
bluebirdproject at denveraudubon.org. Please do not 'Reply' to this email, as that will send your inquiry to
everyone else in the listserv. Thanks!
