NABS will have their annual meeting in Kearney March 6 - 9 of next year,
close enough that many of us Coloradans can attend. Plus, for those of us whose
avian interest extends beyond bluebirds, that's the middle of the great
Sandhill Crane migration through that region. Upwards of 500,000 Sandhills stopover
in the area on their northward trip to their nesting grounds, an incredible
spectacle! I've excerpted salient portions of the NABS announcement below, more
information can be found on their website at _www.nabluebirdsociety.org_
(http://www.nabluebirdsociety.org) , and at the Bluebirds Across Nebraska
organization's website at _http://www.bbne.org/_ (http://www.bbne.org/) . I went to
the NABS convention in Texas in 2006 and had a great time there. Also learned
a lot!

Fellow Bluebirders:
The NABS 2008 Annual Meeting will be held in conjunction with
Bluebirds Across Nebraska's (BAN's) Great Plains Sandhill Crane & Bluebird Festival.
The place is Kearney Nebraska and the dates are March 6-9, 2008. Detailed
information about the speakers, field trips, and workshops can be found at BAN's
website, _http://www.bbne.org/_ (http://www.bbne.org/) .
We are delighted to have been asked by BAN to join them to celebrate
NABS' 30th anniversary. This is a chance not only to hear great speakers and
attend informative workshops, but to also witness one of the greatest avian
spectacles in the world. The sight of tens of thousands of Sandhill Cranes
arriving at dusk or leaving at dawn is amazing and unforgettable. Please register
early enough to ensure a place in one of the Sandhill Crane blinds.
