_www.nestwatch.org_ (http://www.nestwatch.org) that replaces The Birdhouse
Network is now live. Note the other new website listed, _www.nestinginfo.org_

Subj: New NestWatch site - please circulate!
Greetings,
The NestWatch team is excited to announce that our new web site at
_www.nestwatch.org_ (http://www.nestwatch.org/) is now live!
NestWatch is a citizen-science project that teaches people how to properly
monitor nests and collect data used to track nesting success of North American
breeding birds. It has been designed for novices as well as experienced nest
monitors and includes an interactive quiz for participants to become
"certified" to monitor nests.
NestWatch is free to join and all materials needed to participate are
available online. This includes downloadable data collection sheets, the NestWatch
manual, protocol, code of conduct, discussion forums, and multimedia
resources. All observations are submitted online where they are accessible through
maps or downloaded as Excel or pdf files.
The development of this web site as well as the NestCams, has been quite an
undertaking and includes the merging of The Birdhouse Network into NestWatch.
All the great materials developed for The Birdhouse Network exist now as a
resource center located at _www.nestinginfo.org. _ (http://www.nestinginfo.org.
/) The Birdhouse Network and its focus on cavity nesters was crucial to
building a solid base of dedicated nest monitors and enables us to now present
the opportunity to monitor and report on all nesting birds in North America.
You can use your existing Birdhouse Network/Lab of Ornithology username and
password for NestWatch. It is not necessary to create a new account for each
project you participate in. If you are a new participant, please register
today.
Note, the TBNNews-L one-way list serve will be renamed to NWnews-L, to
encompass the new project. You will automatically be subscribed to the new list.
Although the web site continues to be a work in progress, check it out at <_
www.nestwatch.org_ (http://www.nestwatch.org/) > and let us know what you
think!
As always please be in touch with any questions or suggestions and feel free
to circulate this e-mail to other interested parties and organizations.
Thank you for your continued support of citizen science projects at the Cornell
Lab of Ornithology.
Sincerely,
Tina Phillips, Project Leader
