[Denveraudubon] Important Update to Audubon Master Birder Program

   The Audubon Master Birder committee has made an important change to  
the program in regards to the requirement to donate 48 volunteer hours  
to Denver Audubon following certification.

   You now have two options when applying for the Master Birder program:

   Apply as a Denver Audubon volunteer and agree to do the  
post-certification volunteer hours (48 hours annually). There is still  
a $100 program fee to cover costs of speakers, materials, etc.

   Ø      If you do not fulfill the 48 hours the year following  
certification, you will agree to pay an additional $200 for this  
training course. When fulfilling the 48 hours volunteer requirement,  
leading bird hikes for other organizations are not accepted.

   Apply for certification only, waive the post-certification  
volunteer hour requirement and pay a $300 program fee.

   Ø      To receive certification, you must still meet all 18  
requirements, which includes giving 10 hours of volunteer service to  
ASGD during the program and participating in 75% of classes and 75% of  
field trips.

   *When candidates are selected for the Master Birder program,  
preference will be given to those who plan to volunteer for ASGD.

   /Reminder: /Applications are due on TUESDAY, January 29 and the  
entrance test is this same day at 7pm at the ASGD office. Please RSVP  
to Susan (ssmith at denveraudubon.org) so that we know how many  
applicants to prepare for. We are scheduling interviews for:
Monday, February 4 from 6:30pm to 9pm
Tuesday, February 5 from 9am to 3pm
Thursday, February 7 from 6:30pm to 9pm

   DIRECTIONS TO THE ASGD OFFICE ON WEEKDAYS AFTER 4PM & WEEKENDS:
The office is located at the northwest end of Chatfield State Park in  
Littleton, Colorado.

   * From I25 & C470, go west on C470 about 12 miles.
   * Exit onto Wadsworth and go south.
   * At the second intersection, turn left / east into the main  
entrance for Chatfield State Park.
   * At the gate, tell the attendant that you are going to the Audubon  
office. Proceed past the gate to the stop sign (you will be facing the  
reservoir).
   * Turn left and drive about one mile.
   * Just after Massey Draw Picnic Area (on your right), turn left  
onto the service road and drive through the orange gates.
   * At the next intersection, turn right.
   * ASGD offices are in the basement of the second brick house on the right.
