June Members' Meeting - Native-scape your Yard
Wednesday, June 4 at 7pm
Location: Audubon Center at Chatfield
Want plant that will thrive in our Colorado climate and withstand
drought years? Want to attract songbirds and other wildlife to your
yard? Want to find colorful, beautiful flowers that will add interest
to your garden? Native-scaping is the answer. We will explore the
importance of gardening with natives, provide tips for getting started
and dispel some of the myths surrounding native yards. Then we will
preview the native plants for sale and look at how they will fit into
your landscape. You will be able to purchase and take plants home with
you.

   Native Plant Sale

Location: Audubon Center at Chatfield

   _JUNE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES_

PLANT SALE - WED., JUNE 4 FROM 6:30PM - 8:30PM & SAT, JUNE 5 FROM
9AM-NOONVolunteers needed to staff the plant sale and for checkout.

   AUDUBON CENTER PLANTING DAY - WED., JUNE 11 FROM 8:30AM - 11:30AM
We'll be adding native plants to the habitat gardens around the nature
center and doing a bit of weeding.

WILDLIFE GARDENERS - WEDNESDAYS IN JUNE, JULY, AUGUST & SEPTEMBER.
We'll be tending to the native gardens every Wednesday morning from
8:30am to about 11:30am. Our primary activity will be weeding, but it
will also be a good opportunity to learn about the natives. We will
also need help watering the newly planted seedlings on other days
throughout the summer.

AUDUBON SUMMER CAMPS - WEEKS OF JUNE 9, 16, 23
We need a volunteer each day to assist the lead naturalist for each of
these week long natural science day camps. The camps run Mon - Fri
from 8am - 12:30pm. It is a great experience to spend a few days
exploring Chatfield and Waterton Canyon with young children. The last
camp (June 23-27) is "Biking & Birding" so you will need a mountain
bike! (The first two camps involve hiking only.)

   BIOBLITZ FESTIVAL - JUNE 14
We'll need help with all aspects of the festival from setup to tear
down, staffing booths and the welcome table, leading hikes and animal
/ plant counts.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact Susan at
303-973-9530 or ssmith at denveraudubon.org[1]
