Urling and I stopped by the Walker pit (1/2 mile west of Franktown, off Colo. 86) at Noon today and saw a flock of 15-20 Ibis perched on the sand spit that's too far away. We called them white-faced in the absence of a scope to see them closely. The spit also had about 15 mallard-sized ducks and 15 teal-sized ducks. Plus 2 cormorants flew by.

This morning at about 7 a.m., an Olive-sided Flycatcher perched, very briefly, in the dead tree by the house -- our first definite migrant of the fall.

The hummingbirds have devoured sugar water this month. We put out five feeders and they have thronged the place. Principally Broad-tailed, but also regular Rufous (adult male & immature males) and occasional Calliope, and, we think, a Black-chinned or two. They tend not to hang around for us to savor their field marks. In fact we see a lot of very active chases. They don't seem as interested in our hummingbird flowers as in some years.
