Our first Rufous Hummingbird of the season showed up July 2 -- and we didn'd see it yesterday or so far today.
Otherwise, baby Violet-green Swallows peering out of a nest box at the world, white-breasted Nuthatches all over the yard, robins and finches in the cherry trees, piles of both species of goldfinches.
Baby bluebirds in 3 boxes, all second clutches.
Last night we walked down the Homestead trail to Cherry Creek to look at the results of the gully-washer. Impressive. The flood swung the bridge away from its moorings, where it remains tethered to the west side by a cable. Steps gone on the west, but still present on the east. Mud washes down all the gulleys. Willows sprawled flat on the ground. Apparently a big cloud let loose a huge flood 5 miles upstream on East Cherry Creek. At the Homestead, it looked as if the high water mark was 12 feet above the stream.
