There has been a kestrel watching our feeders for at least a week now. I saw it on the deck where I have the bird feeders last Saturday. This was the first time I had ever seen one actually on the deck. In the past I have occasionally seen one perched on top of one of the street lights across the road. It was a very downy looking bird. Juvenile? This morning it was perched on top of one of the Fat Alberts in our back yard watching the empty feeder as a Scrub Jay sat atop another Fat Albert. We haven't had very long looks at it since with it's keen eyesight as soon as we look out it becomes aware that it is being looked at and flies away.
