As we sat out on our front deck this evening watching all of the bird
activity, we spotted a Townsend's Warbler. It was getting insects from the scrub
oak. This is the first time we have had a Townsend's Warbler, at least to our
knowledge.
At least 12-14 hatch-year Rufous hummingbirds dropped into our yard this
morning and took over feeders. In addition, there are at least 6 Calliope
hummers, also hatch- year.
I thought that all of the Black-headed Grosbeaks were gone until we saw
another family being fed. We had at least 4 pair of nesting Black-headed
Grosbeaks. Lots of Pine Siskin and Lesser Goldfinch fledglings. And a few American
Goldfinch fledglings.

What a great time!
