Thought I would share what I've been seeing in Louviers this snowy winter. The numbers of varieties have been lower this year. Besides the usual suspects of finches, chickadees, white-breasted nuthatches, blue jays, juncos, tree sparrows, flickers, and downy woodpeckers, there hasen't been too many surprises. We do now have five Eurasian collared-doves that can be heard or seen almost any day. Also for the first time I have seen bushtits occasionaly. What I am not seeing is red-breasted nuthaches, which last year seemed to be everywhere, american goldfinch, and pine siskin.I did look at some old notes and the last Evening Grosbeak that I remember seeing in town was in 1995,maybe this year.---Tom Halverstadt
