[Douglbirds] McClailn Pit surprise

    We stop regularly to look at the McClain Pit (south of Colo 86 on Castlewood Canyon Road) and usually see nothing or very little. This morning I whizzed by but saw some big birds so turned around to inspect it. 
    We saw four Great Blue Herons and two Double-crested Cormorants. And something else. 
    Through the scope, we discovered, perched on a spoil island next to the cormorants, a Black Tern!

    I can't imagine that it will hang around, but it sure was a delightful surprise.
