[Douglbirds] Lots of Action

Although I'm just hanging around home, and within a couple miles out to Perry Park Road, there's an amazing amount of bird activity out there today........even in the rain, snowball-hail, and generally yucky conditions.  I've seen 31 species today, without even going birding!  Here's a list......

Mountain Bluebird >> 2 pairs, nesting in my boxes
Western Bluebird >> 1 male, hanging around my yard for unknown reasons
Black-capped Chickadee >> 3 hanging around the yard, as always
Brown-headed Cowbird >> 6 recent returnees
Mourning Dove >> 2
Mallard >> 2 flybys
House Finch >> too many to count in my yard......as always
Northern Flicker >> 2 heard but not seen
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher >> at least 4 in the scrub oaks around the house
Common Grackle >> 5
Black-headed Grosbeak >> 2 males & 1 female regular at my feeders
Red-tailed Hawk >> 2 flybys
Broad-tailed Hummingbird >> at least 2 males & 1 female, hanging close to the feeders on this cold day
Western Scrub-Jay >> at least 5 around the house......playing sentinel in the tops of the normal trees
American Kestral >> 2 on the wires along Wolfensberger Road
Killdeer >> 2 flybys
Horned Lark >> 3 along western Wolfensberger Road
Black-billed Magpie >> 7.......here and there
Western Meadowlark >> 2 along Perry Park Road south of Wolfensberger
White-breasted Nuthatch >> 2 on my feeders & deck
Says Phoebe >> 2 heard but not seen
Rock Pigeon >> 4 on a barn near Perry Park Rd & Wolfensberger
Common Raven >> 1 flyby
American Robin >> 6......here and there
Chipping Sparrow >> 2 on my deck
European Starling >> 2......near those Rock Pigeons
Barn Swallow >> 7 inside a nearby horse barn
Tree Swallow >> 2 on the wires near Perry Park Rd & Wolfensberger
Green-tailed Towhee >> 1 out my kitchen window, in beautiful plumage
Spotted Towhee >> too many to count all around my house
Downy Woodpecker >> 1 outside that same horse barn
