We saw our male Broad-tailed hummingbird with no wing whistle again today
about 10:50 am. He visited the flowers and the feeder. I immediately put out
the two other feeders for him! I was really hoping that he would be on his way.
He has been with us for 11 days, and we do not always see him. We did not
see him on Saturday or Sunday, but we were not always watching! We happened to
be doing yard work today when we saw him today (Monday).
We have alot of jays also. There are at least 10 Blue Jays, 6-7 Stellar's
Jays and 3-4 Scrub Jays. They are around here often because I put out quite a
few peanuts in the shell for them, plus a fair amount of Critter Crunch.
We still had 3 Western Bluebirds here and they came in for mealworms. This is
the latest we have ever had them stay or wander through.
The Pine Siskin numbers certainly have dwindled. There are probably no more
than 25-30 here now, down from about 300. I'm hoping more show up
mid-November.
