We just watched a very skittery flock of 200 Bohemian Waxwings cruise in and out of the junipers in our yard. They eventually disappeared over the ridge in the direction of Founders Village. They spent less than five minutes flying around here before they flew out of sight.
They lit in junipers and picked at the juniper berry-cones, but I dont' think they wiped out the Solitaire's supply -- they didn't seem to stay long enough.
The yellow band on their tails gleamed in the sun, and so did the red 'waxy' tips to their wing feathers. We could see the rusty under-tail coverts relatively well. Mostly silent, their wings made more noise than their little trills.
