[Douglbirds] Dave Rapley's magpies

We think that a lot of the corvids got severely hit by West Nile virus. Magpies and crows had the hardest hits. The crows have rebounded and we certainly see plenty of magpies around here. 

These roosting congregations occur seasonally, I think. With the West Nile devastation maybe the recovered birds have developed different habits. 

One of the best sources to pick out population trends are the various Christmas bird counts. One of these days I'll do a pass-through to see what they show.
