We have had Cassin's Finches sporadically in January -- two males & two females. We also have heard Red Crossbills fly overhead once in Jan., several times last fall. Without any cone-bearing trees, our yard doesn't tempt them.

We hear Pygmy Nuthatches almost daily, but they don't venture over here for the same reason as the crossbills -- except one did try the suet last week. Haven't seen one since. Bushtits have decided that they like the suet, and have started showing up daily.

Yesterday, Urling spotted a Harris's Sparrow; after the jays flushed the ground-feeding birds, it didn't reappear.
