This morning I met up with Larry Modesitt to help search the area where I had seen the bird Tuesday, (discovered by Greg Cook of Arlington, TX). I had tried briefly but unsuccessfully yesterday and I know others met the same outcome on Wednesday, so I wasn't optimistic. We bumped into Karen Metz who was leading a bird walk in the canyon. She quickly located the Prairie Warbler in the same general vicinity as Tuesday's sighting. It was eventually viewed by 6 or 7 birders. The bird may be a female based on the broken black streaking in the flanks, no noticeable red streaks on the back and weaker face pattern. It's not singing and is seemingly unresponsive to tape. We moved the rock cairn about 100 feet further north along the trail where the bird was last seen. (See Brian Gibbons' post for directions, or contact me offline).
