I don't know about chukars released around Larkspur, but one of our neighbors, has obtained, in succession, chickens, bobwhites, and chukars and released them to train his hunting dogs, only to have the dogs kill most of them (unless coyotes did). I suspect that any chukars anywhere on the Eastern Slope have escaped from somewhere. Ditto bobwhites along the Front Range (one wintered in a neighbor's barn last year).
The Walker Pit continues to produce stuff. During the blizzard Sunday, we saw the swans at 8 a.m. and two others saw them fly in at 2:30 p.m. In neither case could we scope them -- the scope enlarged the snowflakes and we couldn't see anything.
Urling saw a White-fronted Goose at the pit yesterday (Monday). I looke for the swans yesterday morning and this morning without success. This morning the pit had 500 geese, at least half of them Cackling. The White-fronted could have hidden his head there too, but I didn't pick it out.
