Amongst all the normal chorus of birds around my yard at 5:45am this morning, I recognized the very loud and distinctive song of a new yard bird. Upon looking to confirm, sure enough there was a beautifully plumaged BROWN THRASHER sitting in the top of the very large, old Gambel's oak trees, only about 40' from my deck. He continued to sing vigorously from that location for about 15 minutes, and then dropped down into the underbrush and went silent. I sure hope he returns!

Good Birding,
