Let's go looking for Mountain Finches in Park County! We will try for all three Rosy-Finches, Pine Grosbeak, Evening Grosbeak, Cassin's Finch, Red Crossbill, Canada Jay, Clark's Nutcracker, and other winter montane species. We will carpool from the meeting spot. Bring lunch, snacks, and drinks. We will cover a fair amount of ground by car, but there will be minimal walking. Expect snowy, cold, and icy conditions when we are out of the cars, and maybe wind too. We will visit homes with feeders to view birds, and it is great to bring a bag of sunflower seed to leave as a thank you. Restrooms at intervals. We will carpool from the meeting spot in 3 cars. We will make a plan with volunteer drivers before the trip date; riders can please be ready to offer mileage reimbursement. Please note that this field trip is not accessible for those with mobility challenges.
Meeting location: The Aspen Park RTD Park-N-Ride on Hwy 285. The address is 26137 Conifer Rd, Aspen Park, CO 80433.
Trip Leaders: Julia Gwinn and David Suddjian. We will email all participants with final trip details a few days prior. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at jgwinn53@aol.com. Advance registration, including signing of the liability waiver, is required. Walk-up or impromptu participants will not be allowed.
Please Note: If you have registered and no longer can attend the program, please contact the Denver Audubon Office at (303) 973-9530 as soon as possible.
