Time to bust out the red lights and join us during a New Moon to learn starting tricks for amateur star gazing! Using just our naked eyes, we will find a couple of planets that are out shortly after sunset, along with the closest galaxy to our Milky Way, and how to determine your latitude using just the stars. Our presenter, Kate Hall will also mention some great apps to check out to start star gazing from home. Kate Hall earned her degree in Astrophysics from the University of Hawaii at Hilo, worked for a 2D/3D planetarium in Hilo, and volunteered nightly at the Mauna Kea Visitor’s Information Station giving star tours.

Location of event: Audubon Center at Chatfield Amphitheater.
