Our adult experiences are designed to share the joy that birds bring while showing you how birds help form healthy ecosystems.

BEGINNING BIRD WATCHING
Embark on a birdwatching journey with Denver Audubon’s Beginning Birdwatching Course, led by Audubon Master Birders. Starting each April and September to coincide with the spring and fall migrations, this course offers two virtual sessions followed by four field trips to prime birding areas across the front range. Gain insights into the fascinating world of birds, learn to identify various species, and immerse yourself in their natural habitats under expert guidance.

INTERMEDIATE BIRDING: BIRDING INSIGHTS
Want to take a deeper dive into birds? This learning series covers a variety of bird families and species and are offered almost every month throughout the year. Each are designed with class time followed by an outing to put your new knowledge to the test. Take one, take them all, it’s up to you.
COMMUNITY NATURALIST TRAINING
We are the only Denver-metro organization to offer over 100 hours of combined in-class and field naturalist training. Classes are taught by field experts on a variety of topics including ecosystems, ecology, meteorology, geology, plants, insects, reptiles, amphibians, bird and raptor identification, mammals, nature journaling, nature mentoring, and guide techniques. FIELD TRIPS
Audubon Master Birders, community naturalists, and other expert birders active in our organization host free field trips in parks and green spaces all over Denver. Each trip is unique and affords opportunities to see many types of birds. Check our calendar for upcoming field trips.

AUDUBON MASTER BIRDER CERTIFICATION
Develop your bird brain in this year-long, intensive study of Colorado’s birds and habitats. The mission of the program is to develop field ornithologists who understand bird identification, behavior, habitat, and conservation. We seek those who desire to share their learning through an ongoing commitment to Denver Audubon and the Colorado birding community.

DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL
Denver Audubon partners with two travel companies, Reefs to Rockies and Partners in International Birding, to offer one-of-a-kind domestic and international travel opportunities. These trips focus on visiting natural habitats where unique bird species thrive.
Community Outreach Programs
Community outreach programs are when we come to you. We offer educational programs on birding, creating backyard wildlife habitat, native gardening for birds and pollinators, and a variety of other science topics. See a list of topics.

Private Group Trips
If you’re interested in receiving a private bird walk for a group of between 10 and 20 people, either at the Denver Audubon Nature Center or a Denver-area park, please request by clicking the button below.
