Roxborough is home to a number of summer residents. We should see and/or hear White-throated Swifts, Yellow Warblers, American Robins, Mountain Bluebirds, Black-headed Grosbeaks, other warblers, flycatchers, hummingbirds, wrens, swallows, finches, and vireos. Of course Roxborough is visited by many raptors, including Golden Eagles, which we may also see if we are lucky. Turkey Vultures are common. Year round residents include Spotted Towhees, Blue Jays, Woodhouse’s Scrub-Jays, Black-capped Chickadees, doves, and others.
The Fountain Valley Trail is an easy trail with gradual uphill incline on the return segment. We will start early to avoid the heat. Bring binoculars, water and snacks, sunscreen, and sun hat. Sun protective clothing is recommended. Meet at the Visitor’s Center.
Please note that this trip is not accessible for those with mobility challenges.
