PLEASE NOTE: You must register for this field trip (limit: 9 people) and complete the liability form when you register. Walk-up or impromptu participants will not be allowed. Other requirements are described below.

The Rueter-Hess Reservoir is a privately owned water body in Parker. The construction of Rueter-Hess Reservoir was completed in 2012 to hold 75,000 acre feet of stored water. The dam rises 185 feet above the bedrock, and the reservoir will encompass 1,170 acres, surrounded by prairie and scrub-oak habitat. 210 different species of birds have been recorded including wonderful migratory shorebirds in the spring and fall including American Avocet and Red-necked Phalarope, as well as a variety of ducks, grebes, sparrows, and resident Golden Eagles. Parker Water & Sanitation has a passenger van that will be used to access different habitats around the reservoir. Registration Required. The trip is limited to 9 participants. Field Trip Leaders: Audubon Master Birder Tina Leslie and Audubon Master Birder and Executive Director of Denver Audubon, Karl Brummert.

Note that this field trip is not accessible to those with mobility challenges.

-Please self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms, even if you are vaccinated, and use common sense. DO NOT attend if you if you had recent exposure to an individual with symptoms or confirmation of COVID-19. If you have any symptoms or even suspect you could have COVID-19 symptoms, do not sign up for this trip.
-Masks Outdoors: Masks are not required outdoors. However, we encourage unvaccinated people to wear a mask when interacting with people outside their household when outdoors and maintain social distancing of 6 feet.
-Masks Indoors: Fully vaccinated people can go without masks in public indoor spaces. Unvaccinated people are encouraged to continue wearing masks in all public indoor spaces.
