Youth and Family Events

Although many of our activities are family-friendly, we offer specific events and programs ideal for children. We want to amuse and entertain while sparking curiosity and wonder about birds and nature.

YOUNG BIRDERS CLUB

Are you interested in learning more about birds? Denver Audubon Young Birders Club works to educate and inspire young birders across the Denver area. We are building a community that is curious about birding and avian ecology. Join us to get out in nature, make friends, and learn about birds! We aim to meet once a month in parks around the metro area. No previous experience is required. Master birders will be available to show us how to identify birds, use the tools of bird identification, and get to know the birds that are around us every day and during migration seasons. Ages 12-17 are welcome and registration is required. To express your interest in the club, click the button below.

HABITATS FOR HOMESCHOOLERS

This class series is designed for home school families to celebrate the outdoors together while learning about the exciting wildlife found around our Denver Audubon Nature Center. Our topics adjust with the season, and class days and times vary. Click the button to email your interest in this program.

HOOTENANNY

Come hoot with us at our largest family event. Each fall, we host this festival at our nature center, where you and your family enjoy live music, an owl costume contest, a scavenger hunt, face painting, owl pellet (owl puke) dissection, the chance to meet the US Forest Service’s Woodsy Owl, and the opportunity to see live owls. Keep your owl-ears listening for when we announce the next HOOTenanny.
