The Denver Audubon Community Naturalist Training is a one-of-a-kind adult training program highlighting the plants, animals, and ecosystems of the Colorado Front Range over the course of 12 months. Topics of study include geology, botany, ecology, wildlife rehabilitation, mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects, fish, mycology (fungi), and conservation in Colorado. Classes for the 2023-2024 year-long program will be held one to two Saturdays per month, with a few breaks in between (Thanksgiving, Christmas, 4th of July). In-person field trip opportunities include Summit Lake, Echo Lake, Genesee Mountain Park, South Valley Park, Sharp Tail Ridge, Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms, Roxborough State Park, Lamb Spring Archaeological site.
Classes are held at the Denver Audubon Kingery Nature Center, 11280 Waterton Rd., Littleton, CO 80125, located at the Southern tip of Chatfield State Park.
Field trip locations and field classes are mostly easy to moderate flat trails, though arrangements can be made if additional accessibility assistance is needed.
