Conservation in Colorado - Front Range Pika Project

tue10mar6:30 pmtue8:30 pmConservation in Colorado - Front Range Pika ProjectMeets at Breckenridge Brewery in the Tasting Room for beers, a bit of education, and inspiration to take action for birds, other wildlife, and their habitats. For over 9 years, the Front Range Pika Project has actively engaged citizens from Colorado in field research needed to explore how climate is influencing the American pika, which serves as an indicator species for the ecological impacts of climate on alpine ecosystems across the Southern Rockies. Erica Garroutte, a Landscape Ecologist and Community Engagement Manager at the Denver Zoo, will discuss lessons learned from the Front Range Pika Project on how citizen science can serve as a tool for understanding and managing vulnerable species and ecosystems under climate change and for inspiring citizens to take action to mitigate the impact on important ecosystems and natural resources
