Event Details

Hello everyone! This trip will have the aim of helping with citizen science for the Great Backyard Bird Count. The goal of this project is to help scientists gather data they can use to better understand and protect birds around the world. You can help with this project on your own by enjoying sometime on your back porch for 15 minutes over the weekend of February 17-20. However, we are offering this great trip as a way to get out, enjoy birds, and help with the Great Backyard Bird Count.

The trip at Berkeley Lake Park will be roughly a 3-hour walk on paved trails around Berkeley Lake in Denver, CO. The walk should be an easy, relaxed trip with the goal of seeing as many birds as possible and recording what we see. I will be keeping a list of all of the birds that we see that morning for the trip and logging them. You will not have to worry about recording the birds yourself, just help me know what you see! This trip is open to all levels of birders from beginning to advanced. If you are new to birding, this can be a great opportunity to learn more about birds, bird conservation and hopefully see a bunch of different birds. If you are an advanced birder, we will of course have fun but will be able to utilize your skills to identify birds around the park and ensure we get accurate results for the count!
I hope to see many of you there.
