PROGRAM FULL - Washington Park Great Backyard Bird Count

sun18feb8:30 amsun10:30 amPROGRAM FULL - Washington Park Great Backyard Bird CountWe'll count birds in Washington Park for the Great Backyard Bird Count.

Event Details

This trip will have the aim of helping with citizen science for the Great Backyard Bird Count. The goal of this project is to help scientists gather data they can use to better understand and protect birds around the world. You can help with this project on your own by enjoying sometime on your back porch for 15 minutes over the weekend of February 17-20. However, we are offering this trip as a way to get out, enjoy birds, and help with the Great Backyard Bird Count. This two-hour walk will focus on Grasmere Lake, the southern lake in Washington Park. The lake will provide a variety of duck species. This trip is open to all levels of birders from beginning to advanced. If you are new to birding, this can be a great opportunity to learn more about birds, bird conservation and hopefully see a bunch of different birds. If you are an advanced birder, we will of course have fun but will be able to utilize your skills to identify birds around the park and ensure we get accurate results for the count! The gravel path can get icy so wear warm boots with good soles.
