PLEASE NOTE: You must register for this field trip (limit: 10 people) and complete the liability form when you register. Walk-up or impromptu participants will not be allowed. Other requirements are described below.

Lair o' the Bear features a higher elevation riparian (streamside) habitat in the foothills just outside of Denver. The combination of conifer and deciduous trees plus a reliable source of water year-round provide a wonderful opportunity to see a variety of birds such as Black-headed Grosbeak, Lazuli Bunting, Pygmy Nuthatch, various warbler species, and Cordilleran Flycatcher. Audubon Master Birder club mentors will guide young birders along the creek and up into the forest for a chance to view and hear some of these specialized foothills species! The hike will be easy to moderate at times. Participants need to wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring a small backpack with a water bottle, sunscreen, hat, and a snack. Note that this field trip is not accessible for those with mobility challenges.

For more information, please call Kate Hogan, trip leader, at (918) 991-9367.
