Event Details
For Young Birders and their families, join Master Birders Angela and Sarah in search of mountain birds at around 8,200 feet elevation. We hope to find different nuthatches, woodpeckers, jays, and bluebirds. We will continue to work on identification skills including spotting, observing, describing, and listening to songs and calls to help identify them by ear. Each time we practice, we get better! We will travel along a gravel trail, sometimes rocky, up and down. Come prepared with binoculars for everyone in your family, water, snacks/picnic lunch, sun protection, extra layers, and hiking boots. When we finish birding, join us for a picnic lunch together at the meeting location.
The Young Birders Club is recommended for young birders ages 7 to 15 with their families. If you might drop off your teenager with the leaders for this trip, please make sure you email this information ahead of time and check in with them before the program begins with your child. More details to come for registered participants in an email a few days before the day of the trip.
