Writing and drawing are an integral part of science. We’ll take a historic look at the different ways scientists and naturalists have observed and recorded nature. Then, using a collection of specimens or your own observations from the Nature Center, start or continue your own nature journal. Paying careful attention to the physiology of plants and animals offers insight into the relationships between them. Learn tips and tricks for creating a nature field journal; choosing a subject, what to record, drawing tips, and more. Separate classes will be taught simultaneously for younger and older students.
The suggested age for this program is 5 and up.

- COVID Guidelines: We will follow the current guidelines for the county where the program takes place.

Where does everything go? Students learn how nature breaks things like big trees or animals down into smaller units and how energy and nutrients transfer throughout the ecosystem. Learn to identify some of the organisms that take part in the decomposition process and how you can support this process in your yard through composting. Weather permitting, we’ll explore around the Center looking for signs of nature’s recycling process.
The suggested age for this program is 5 and up.
